“Wahenya Estate farm is part of the Sasini Limited Group. Sasini has a holistic view on producing quality products; we take a healthy community and the environment very seriously. We have put this policy into practice by working according to the Utz Kapeh Certified standards. All the farms in the Sasini group are Utz Certified since March 2005. This enables them to demonstrate our commitment to responsible and professional quality coffee production to our buyers (traders, and consumers). The farms have benefited from the certification by more efficient production systems and we have better terms of trade because of added value to our coffee.”

Several rivers originating at the Aberdare ridges irrigate the Wahenya farm. The deep, fertile and well-drained volcanic soils of the farms have produced high quality and quantity coffee for over a century. In order to ensure a future of quality coffee, they recognize the need and feel the obligation to carry out our farming activities within a good scope of environment friendliness. They maintain both exotic and indigenous forests in order to improve the immediate environment and create a responsible source of timber and fuel.

Sasini’s farms employ people to prune, pick, sort and harvest coffee. They have a strict employment policy of not employing anyone below the age of 18 years.
